An access log contains a record of all the files that have been requested by the visitors while surfing around your Internet site. The list is detailed, so in case you have a webpage with two embedded images, for instance, all of the three files shall be in the log, not only the page. An access log usually includes the date, the OS, the Internet browser and the IP address for each file in human-readable form, so you can get an idea about the hottest files on your site. The log, which is also typically called "raw data", is an addition to the web statistics you commonly get with a hosting account, not a replacement. An illustration why you may need such a log is if you intend to use some software on your personal computer to prepare a report about the website’s overall performance, but you don't want to use the standard graphs and tables which come with the server-generated site stats.

Access Log Manager in Shared Web Hosting

Our custom Hepsia Control Panel includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are among them. When you sign in to your shared web hosting account and go to this section, you'll find a list of all the domain names and subdomains that you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to click on a button that will be available next to every single domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you will see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your computer and look at it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantly, so if you no longer need one, you'll be able to stop it with simply a click from the same section of the CP. You shall still have the ability to access the already developed content by simply clicking the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Our advanced website hosting platform shall create access logs for each and every site hosted inside a semi-dedicated server account, assuming that this feature is enabled. All domain names and subdomains that you have will be listed inside the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, which we supply with all the accounts, so if you want our system to start generating logs for each of them, you should just click on the compact button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and switch the default Off option to On. You'll be able to disable this function at any time by following the exact same steps. You'll find a Download link for each and every log within the same section of the CP, so you can save the content generated by our system in .txt format with only a click. An existing log file may be downloaded even after the function has been disabled, so you'll still be able to view the data that's already been generated.
