Whenever you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that specific provider. On their end, 3 records are set up automatically right after the domain name is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the domain where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that handles the emails for that specific Internet domain. The site and the email hosting are generally thought to be one thing, while they are in reality two different services. Having independent records for them will allow you to have them with different companies if you want. For instance, some new company can have outstanding uptime for your site, but you may not want to switch your emails from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain name to the former and MX records to have the emails with the second, you can get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you wish to open a site or send an email - in either case, the service provider whose name servers are used for the domain address will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you'll see the needed site or your email will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Web Hosting

If you have a shared web hosting through us, you are going to be able to view, create and modify any A or MX record for your domain names. Assuming that a specific domain name has our Name Servers, you'll be able to modify particular records via our Hepsia hosting Control Panel and have your site or e-mails directed to another provider if you want to use only one of our services. Our sophisticated tool will even enable you to have a domain name hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted someplace else by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main domain name in any way. If you choose to use the email services of a different company and they want you to create more than two MX records, you can easily do this with simply a couple of clicks through the DNS Records section of your CP. You can also set different latency for every single MX record i.e. which one is going to have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

With the semi-dedicated hosting that we provide, you are going to have full control over the records of all domain names and subdomains you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records every one of them has via the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and editing any record requires as little as a couple of clicks. If you want to change your web or email hosting provider, you can change the required record and direct your domain name to the other company for one of the services, as you still continue using the other one through us. You can also keep the main domain address here, while you change the A record of only one of its subdomains. When you're editing the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the default 2 that we have, you could create them with ease and set a different priority for each and every one.
